  • Create the final draft for your Character Essay (Reflection Journal #3) and publish it in the EAL 6 Writing Showcase.



Week of September 5 to 8
Due on Wednesday, September 8th:
  • Personal Dictionary: summarize and describe
  • Reflection Journal #3: Write a 3-paragraph essay describing a character from The Revealers using THREE of the traits you listed on your Character Trait Chart.
    • Make sure your essay has three parts: introduction, body and conclusion.
    • Click on the link to view the model essay we wrote in class: Character Description.
    • Proofread and edit your essay.
      • Ideas (relevant, important) - Do they make sense? Do they stay on topic?
      • Organization - Does it have the needed structure (introduction, body, conclusion)? Are the ideas in a logical order?

Week of August 29 to September 2
Due on Thursday, September 2nd:
  • Vocabulary Quiz: compare, contrast, infer, predict
  • Reflection Journal #2: After listening to the story in class and retelling it to a partner, do the following:
    • Retell the story.
    • Predict how the story will end. Write an ending for the story.
    • Explain why you think the story will end that way.
  • Character Trait Chart: Choose a character from The Revealers and complete the Character Trait Chart to describe the character.



Week of August 22 to 26
Due on Wednesday, August 26th:
  • Personal Dictionary: infer & predict

Due on Monday, August 23rd:
  • Reflection Journal #1: Choose ONE of the following topics to write about. Write at least two paragraphs.
    • Compare and contrast a vacation you had in a cold climate and a vacation you had in a warm climate.
    • Compare and contrast life science and physical science.
    • Compare and contrast fractions, decimals and percents.
    • Compare and contrast dressing for a formal occasion and dressing informally.
    • Compare and contrast your two favorite sports.
    • Compare and contrast two things that you choose.
